Created on the occasion of the Franciscan Jubilee 2026, the work forms part of a year dedicated to Saint Francis and to reflection on the themes of peace, dialogue, and the relationship between humanity, nature, and community.
On display at the Church of Santa Maria Nuova, Gubbio, from 3 October to 6 November 2026, as part of the group exhibition Cari Maestri.
Cosmic Equilibrium emerges from a question: what if true balance were not something to achieve, but something to remember?
The work represents an open Earth, almost like a primordial womb, holding the Sun and the Moon within it: two complementary forces — light and shadow, masculine and feminine, matter and spirit. Different energies that do not cancel one another out, but come together to form a unified order.
Around the Earth, the human figures embody the journey of being. They represent humanity in its different stages of awareness, on a path that moves from separation towards self-recognition and an understanding of belonging to the Whole. The ongoing search for balance.
Because the human being is not separate from the Universe: we are part of the Universe.
Cosmic balance thus becomes inner balance as well. Awakening is the moment when we remember who we are, recognise our place within Creation, and understand that we belong to something infinitely greater.
The work does not seek to provide an answer.
It seeks to activate questions.
