Artist

Elisa Aiassa is an Italian painter who transforms matter with an alchemical touch, creating works of art that reveal the beauty of metamorphosis. The number 3 is the leitmotif of her materic and pictorial creations.

In Number Three, Elisa Aiassa takes the research of The Numbers Cycle towards a dimension of synthesis and connection. The composition is built around three circular forms arranged vertically, creating a visual rhythm that suggests continuity, transition, and transformation.
The circle, a recurring element in the artist’s symbolic universe, evokes the idea of unity, wholeness, and cyclicality. Here, its repetition across three levels introduces a dynamic structure: three distinct presences that, through their relationship with one another, form a unified composition. Number Three thus becomes a form of balance between different elements, a meeting point where individual parts acquire meaning through their relationship with one another.
The upper surface, pale and richly textured, evokes a luminous, almost cosmic dimension. At the centre, the large metal number 3 stands out against the golden background, assuming a strong and tangible presence. The lower circle, darker and more layered, introduces a deeper, earthier dimension. The vertical sequence therefore creates a dialogue between light and shadow, surface and depth, matter and symbol.
The choice of materials contributes to the construction of this language. Plaster, acrylic, metal, natural stones, and textiles are not used simply as supports or decorative elements, but form an integral part of the work’s structure. The different textures transform the canvas into a three-dimensional, almost sculptural surface, in which matter becomes part of the meaning.
In Number Three, the circular form also assumes a connective function: each element appears simultaneously to contain and support the one that follows. The work therefore develops not simply through layering, but through relationship. It is precisely in the space between the three components that the possibility of a new balance emerges.
As with the other works in The Numbers Cycle, Number Three does not present itself as an image to be interpreted according to a single, definitive code. Its strength lies instead in its ability to create a correspondence between matter, form, and perception, inviting the viewer to enter the symbolic dimension of the work.
The Sound Dimension
Like the other works in the series, Number Three is accompanied by a musical component created by Elisa Aiassa based on the frequency associated with the number 3.
Sound introduces a further dimension beyond the physical presence of matter: what is constructed within the composition through form, texture, and layering finds a second expression through frequency and listening.
The work thus becomes part of a broader experience in which number, matter, and sound contribute to the creation of a language that extends beyond the purely visual dimension.
In Number Three, relationship becomes form: three presences, three dimensions, one field of energy and meaning.
