Elisa Aiassa is an Italian painter who transforms matter with an alchemical touch, creating works of art that reveal the beauty of metamorphosis. The number 3 is the leitmotif of her material and pictorial creations.

In Number Seven, Elisa Aiassa takes The Numbers Cycle towards a dimension of inner research, knowledge, and awareness. Following the openness to change and exploration of Five and the emotional and communal dimension of Six, Seven introduces the need to move beyond the surface of things, to question reality, and to seek a deeper understanding of existence.
The composition is built around a large dark circle, at the centre of which the number 7 emerges as the dominant and immediately recognisable element. Around the central core unfolds a rich layering of pages, fragments of texts, and paper materials, transforming the canvas into a kind of visual archive, a memory composed of words, knowledge, and traces.
The books and pages take on particular significance here: they are not simply material elements, but evoke study, knowledge, and the accumulation of learning over time. The words, stripped of their exclusively narrative function, become matter within the artwork itself. The torn, overlapping, and partially concealed pages suggest that knowledge is not something immediately accessible, but a territory to be crossed, questioned, and pieced together.
At the centre, the 7 appears to emerge from this universe of texts like a key or code. Its ordered and geometric presence contrasts with the fragmented pages surrounding it, creating a tension between order and inquiry, structure and complexity. The number thus becomes the focal point of a journey towards knowledge.
The circular form enclosing the 7 also introduces a sense of wholeness and concentration. The viewer’s gaze is drawn towards the centre, as though the work were inviting a movement not outwards, but towards a deeper and more contemplative dimension.
The presence of golden details adds a luminous dimension to the composition. Gold emerges among the pages and around the central core, suggesting the precious value of knowledge and research. Matter thus also becomes a metaphor for knowledge acquired through experience, study, and the ability to move beyond what is immediately visible.
The mixed-media technique — plaster, acrylic, metals, natural stones, and textiles — integrates with the use of pages and paper fragments, transforming the canvas into a layered, almost archaeological surface. Each layer seems to preserve a trace, as though the work itself were the result of a process of research and accumulation.
In Number Seven, I Seek refers not simply to the desire to acquire knowledge, but to a permanent disposition towards inquiry. To seek means to ask questions, to accept what one does not yet understand, and to transform experience into awareness.
The archetypal figure of The Sage represents the most mature point of this journey: not one who possesses all the answers, but one who has learned to observe, question, and understand through experience.
Seven is the number of research and knowledge. It is the question that opens the path towards understanding, experience becoming awareness. It is the Sage.
