Artist

Elisa Aiassa is an Italian painter who transforms matter with an alchemical touch, creating works of art that reveal the beauty of metamorphosis. The number 3 is the leitmotif of her material and pictorial creations.

In Number Five, Elisa Aiassa takes The Numbers Cycle towards a dimension of movement, exploration, and transformation. If the previous numbers introduced origin, relationship, synthesis, and concretisation, Five opens a space for exploration: the moment when the human being leaves behind what is familiar and encounters new possibilities.
The composition unfolds across a richly materic white surface, marked by layers and folds of fabric that create an almost organic sense of movement. At the centre of the work, a large circular form emerges, traversed by golden and silver tones. The circle, a recurring element in Aiassa’s artistic research, takes on the appearance of a space to be crossed and explored, almost a threshold between what is known and what is yet to be discovered.
Within the circular form, the matter becomes denser and more layered. Natural stones and metallic fragments emerge from the surface, creating a tactile and irregular landscape. The different elements seem to suggest a territory to be explored: each becomes a trace, an encounter, a possibility.
The contrast between the white background and the tones of gold, silver, and earth reinforces the work’s sense of openness. Gold introduces a luminous and precious dimension, while the stones and irregular surfaces bring the research back to the physical presence of matter. The large 5, positioned in the lower part of the composition, becomes the visible sign of this energy of movement and change.
The archetypal figure of The Seeker represents one who is not satisfied with what is already known, but follows curiosity towards the unknown. To explore means to change perspective, to cross new inner and outer territories, and to allow oneself to be guided by the fascination of what has not yet taken a defined form.
The technique itself contributes to this narrative: plaster, acrylic, metals, natural stones, and textiles transform the canvas into a three-dimensional surface in which matter itself seems to be in motion. Layering becomes a metaphor for the Seeker’s journey: each trace adds experience, each material preserves the memory of a passage.
In Number Five, change is therefore not presented as a rupture, but as an opportunity for expansion. Curiosity sets the search in motion, freedom makes the journey possible, and exploration transforms what we do not yet know into a new experience.
Five is the movement towards the unknown. It is curiosity becoming a quest, freedom becoming a journey. It is the Seeker.
