Number Two

The artist's vision

Artist

Elisa Aiassa is an Italian painter who transforms matter with an alchemical touch, creating works of art that reveal the beauty of metamorphosis. The number 3 is the leitmotif of her material and pictorial creations.

In Elisa Aiassa’s research, Number Two introduces the principle of relationship. If One represents origin, presence, and the affirmation of “I am,” Two opens the space of encounter: two polarities that do not exclude one another, but define each other.
Duality thus becomes a dynamic condition, in which the masculine principle of manifestation encounters the feminine principle of magnetism and receptivity. It is not a matter of opposition, but of a generative tension: a dialogue between different forces which, precisely through their complementarity, create movement and possibility.
Alongside this dimension are intuition and sensitivity, qualities that the artist associates with Number Two. It is a subtler dimension than the affirmation of One: not everything is achieved through action; some things are perceived, received, and intuitively understood.
The archetypal figure of the Child therefore introduces the idea of a gaze that remains open to the world, capable of wonder, listening, and discovery. The Child does not represent merely the beginning of a journey, but a way of being: that part of us that remains receptive to what it does not yet know.
On a material level, the work retains the characteristic technique of the collection: plaster, acrylic, metallic elements, natural stones, and textile materials build a surface that transcends the two-dimensionality of the canvas and takes on an almost sculptural presence. Matter thus becomes the physical space in which the symbolic polarities of Number Two can manifest themselves.
As with the other works in the series, Number Two does not offer a meaning to be deciphered once and for all, but opens a space for perception and reflection. It is through the encounter between its different polarities — masculine and feminine, manifestation and magnetism, intuition and sensitivity — that the work finds its identity.
The Sound Dimension
As with the other Numbers in the series, Number Two is accompanied by a musical component created by Elisa Aiassa based on the frequency associated with the number 2.
Sound adds an immaterial dimension to matter, transforming the work into an experience that engages not only the eye, but also the sense of hearing. Matter, symbol, and frequency thus enter into dialogue, extending the exploration of Number beyond its visible form.

Two is encounter. It is the relationship between who we are and what completes us.
