Artist
Elisa Aiassa is an Italian artist who transforms matter with an alchemical touch, creating works of art that reveal the beauty of metamorphosis. The number 3 is the leitmotif of her material and pictorial creations.
Master Number 22, within Elisa Aiassa’s The Numerical Alphabet of Existence, introduces the dimension of conscious creation: the moment when an idea encounters matter and what belongs to the realm of possibility takes on a tangible form. If intuition opens up a vision, it is through the act of materialising that this vision can become reality.
The artwork is centred on the number 22, positioned within a geometric composition set inside a large circular form. The outer circle, with its richly textured white surface, encloses a square structure that appears to emerge from the canvas through several layers of material. The overlapping forms create a dialogue between circularity and geometry, continuity and structure, the symbolic dimension and the tangible presence of matter.
At the centre, the surface unfolds into a network of folds, reliefs, and irregularities radiating around the number. Matter seems to expand from a central nucleus, as though an original impulse were generating a new configuration. The number 22, rendered in metal, stands out through its essential and solid presence: it is not merely a sign to be recognised, but the focal point around which the entire composition finds its order.
The dominant white amplifies the perception of textures and volumes, while the golden undertones introduce a luminous, precious, and energetic dimension. The overlapping geometric elements suggest a process of construction: each layer supports the next, and each form contributes to the stability of the whole. The composition thus appears to make visible the passage from intention to realisation, from the creative impulse to a structure capable of existing in space.
In this context, “I Materialise” expresses the ability to translate a vision into something tangible. To materialise does not simply mean giving form to an idea, but taking responsibility for the creative process: choosing, building, organising, and transforming. Matter becomes the place where thought manifests itself and acquires substance.
The archetypal figure of The Creator embodies precisely this capacity to act upon reality through one’s own vision. The Creator is not merely one who imagines what does not yet exist, but one who finds a way to bring it into the world. Their power lies in the encounter between intuition and concreteness, imagination and discipline, potential and realisation.
The mixed-media technique, through the use of plaster, acrylic, metals, and other materic elements, plays a fundamental role in this exploration. The layers are not merely decorative: they become traces of a process, evidence of a transformation in which matter is progressively organised, shaped, and imbued with meaning. The surface of the work thus approaches an architectural dimension, in which every element contributes to the construction of a sense of balance.
Within the Master Numbers, 22 also opens up an experiential dimension that extends beyond visual observation alone. Matter enters into dialogue with sound and olfactory essences, giving form to Elisa Aiassa’s multisensory research. The music, interpreted and recorded by Trio Armonie di Gran Classe, is not conceived as a mere accompaniment, but as an autonomous language that encounters the language of the artwork and contributes to creating a new perceptual experience.
It is through this encounter that the catalysis sought by the artist takes shape: a process through which the artwork is not simply observed, but can activate inner reflection, transforming perception into awareness.
In Master Number 22, creation means making possible what previously existed only as intuition. Matter becomes the bridge between the inner and outer worlds, between what we imagine and what we are capable of building.
22 is vision taking form. It is intuition becoming matter, potential transforming into reality. It is The Creator.
