“Luna Madre” is a sculpture-installation by Elisa Aiassa that merges the human figure, cosmic symbolism, and material sensibility into a single evocative presence. Created on a life-size resin mannequin, the work incorporates materials such as plaster, acrylic, sand, metal, natural stones, paper, and fabric, transforming the body into a visual sign of strength, mystery, and universal connection.
The figure, suspended between tangible reality and symbolic imagination, evokes the Cosmic Mother — the one who embraces, nourishes, and reflects the profound link between the human dimension and the invisible energies of the cosmos. The moon, represented here as a central emblem, becomes a metaphor for femininity, cyclicality, intuition, and regeneration: an active principle connecting macrocosm and microcosm, matter and spirit, the visible and the invisible.
The layered, textured surface invites the viewer to a tactile experience of the work: plaster and sand suggest a lunar landscape, raw and primordial, while acrylic and natural stones provide chromatic and symbolic depth. Metal inserts, along with textile and paper details, amplify the dialogue between surface and meaning, offering a reading in which each material becomes part of an organic, intuitive narrative.
“Luna Madre” is not merely a decorated body: it is an archetype that bears witness to universal motherhood, the cyclical rhythm of life, and the continuous dialogue between the human being and the infinite. Through this work, Aiassa explores the core of existence, where matter, energy, and consciousness converge in a silent, profound equilibrium, inviting the viewer to a contemplation that goes beyond appearances to touch the most authentic meaning of being.
